In honor of Teacher Appreciation week, Retreat House Spirituality Center will open our doors to teachers on Monday, May 2 from 4-6 p.m. for rest, reflection, reconnection and renewal!
Are you a teacher? Swing by our open house after school. We’ll have refreshments, massage therapy, healing flute music, and more! Our art room, walking labyrinth, front yard and back porch will be available for you. Light refreshments will be served!
Some additional scoop:
Mindful Living Guide Karen Hoffman will be offering gratitude activities geared towards teachers. Participants will have an opportunity to reflect on a poem and then select an inspirational card with prompts to journal and reflect, all while in a tranquil setting, as a practice and important gift of self-care. Teachers will leave with lessons to bring back into their classrooms.
Retreat House Spirituality Center is located at 110 Mimosa Drive in Richardson across from Richardson High School on the campus of St. Barnabas Church. As a nonprofit organization, we seek to provide respite to our community. Learn more about our mission and story here. Our doors will be open for teachers to relax, renew and recharge. Bring your friends or just bring yourself!
The Traveling Grief Memorial Arch will be set up on the front lawn of RH throughout this offering. The art room will be open for participants to write prayers on ribbons to tie on arch. Trained Spiritual Directors will be on the lawn to pray with those who desire companionship in this way.
Our Traveling Arch, gives communities like Retreat House a place to grieve and remember. To remember, loved ones we’ve lost, or maybe even other losses - jobs, relationships, seasons of life, etc. This is especially timely as we grieve the many losses experienced during the pandemic.
The Arch will remain in the care of Retreat House through next year as it will be utilized for different events to honor and remember. The Traveling Arch is provided by the generous support of Saint Philip Presbyterian Church in Houston.
