Ep 23: Chaplaincy and Spiritual Direction: A Holy Blend of Gifts
In this episode we visit with Robin Russell.
Robin grew up in a family of fourth generation morticians. As a daughter of parents who owned a funeral home, death wasn’t made to be a scary thing. It was just part of life. It was part of the story.
Always a deep listener and appreciator of stories, Robin worked as a religion reporter for many years until about 9 years ago when she felt a nudge to transition those skills into another role – hospice chaplain. Here she found her upbringing combined with her first career felt like a harmonious blend of holy threads. And a few years ago, she also became a spiritual director - something she says helped her to feel even freer as a hospice chaplain as she focuses on inviting holy mystery into the many spaces in which she meets her patients.
Robin is a writer, hospice chaplain and spiritual director. She also serves on the Retreat House board of director. Learn more about Robin.
