The Healing of Humanity

By Suzanne Guinn

I AM WEARY!

Weary of the killing of the innocents

those who are just trying to live in peace

I AM WEARY!

Weary of white women and Black, Latino, and Asian men

having to work twice as hard

As white men to get the same pay

I AM WEARY!

Weary of Black, Latina, and Asian women

having to work

three or four times as hard to get the same pay

as those white men.

I AM WEARY!

I am weary of persons

being trafficked, abused, and denigrated by powerful people

who only care about their own financial gain.

I AM WEARY!

I am weary of LGTBQIA+ persons

being rejected by some in society

who think they are “not God’s beautiful creations”

and need to be changed.

I AM WEARY!

Weary of hearing the excuses of lawmakers

who say they have the best interests

of their constituents at heart

when they are only concerned

with their own success.

Where is the Compassion?

Where is the Respect?

Where is the Love. . .

One for another?

God’s command was to

Love our neighbor as ourselves.

But I don’t think

some know how to do that,

the loving themselves part.

They don’t know how

to ask for help.

They see it as a weakness.

They think they can be self-sufficient

with a “my own boot-straps” ideology.

How Does the Healing of Humanity Come. . .?

One person at a time

learning to love herself or himself or themself.

One person at a time

allowing herself, himself, or themself

to be embraced by a loving Higher Power,

who wants her, him, and them to be

all she, he, and they were created to be. . .

and that is simply and wondrously,

A Precious and Loved Child of God.
