Tamara Ramirez

Trained Spiritual Director

BIO

A graduate of Azusa Pacific University, Tamara worked as a hospice nurse for nearly two decades. After leaving active nursing practice, she worked for many years as a lay staff member in a local church, where she played a leading role in missions and outreach. She is also a trained NAMI Family to Family teacher, who partners with counselors in caring for the spiritual health of those who live with a mental illness. She brings her years of caring for those who are dealing with grief, suffering, and death along with her love for those struggling to remain in the Christian community during these difficult times to each spiritual direction session.

Tamara’s Practice

In her spiritual Direction practice, Tamara brings a Christian perspective to create space for directees (clients) to push past fear, shame, or confusion to deepen their relationship with the Triune God (God the Father, The Holy Spirit, and Jesus Christ the Son). It her hope that those she meet with find that all of their life relationships are strengthened; God, self, others, and creation.

Tamara shares this Henri J.M. Nouwen quote from his book Return of the Prodigal Son when asked to summarize her sentiments towards spiritual direction:

I am beginning now to see how radically the character of my spiritual journey will change when I no longer think of God as hiding out and making it as difficult as possible for me to find him, but, instead, as the one who is looking for me while I am doing the hiding.
