Ep 7: Discovering Home and Place with Gretchen Martens

In this episode, we visit with Gretchen Martens. Gretchen is the editor of our House of book series. She’s also a professional writer, publisher and spiritual companion. We had a chance to catch up with her about several topics – how she originally connected with our community through Compassionate DFW, her move during the pandemic from Dallas to Belize and then back again to the United States settling most recently in an 1800s farmhouse in Pennsylvania as well as her call and desire to accompany others on their spiritual and emotional journeys – particularly through her wisdom of shamanic healing practices.

As the host of Retreat House’s monthly virtual writer’s gathering, we also spent some time talking about her desire to facilitate welcome and support for fellow writers as well as our upcoming book and writing invitation House of Gratitude. Her background as a former archeologist combined with her love of nature and storytelling as well as her close connection to the history and evolution of Retreat House makes this an especially rich conversation. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
