Daily Light: Reflections for Holy Times - Invited to the Light
Invited to the Light
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
Genesis 1:3
I often find myself waiting for God's invitation. There is a desire deep in me that wants to know that I am following God's invitation, not just reacting to my need to control things. This feels like light to me. The light that shines on the path, revealing my next step.
I can imagine what chaos felt like when God invited light to shine forth from her empty void. It feels like the warmth of a sun ray bursting through dense clouds on a chilly day. I shake off the cold and embrace the warmth that reaches my soul
I can imagine God tenderly coaxing the light from the darkness as a freshly-lit candle needs protection from the wind. As the flame becomes more grounded and connected to the wick, the light grows, and illuminiates the room to reveal warm, inviting shadows. In this space, I am invited to befriend the darkness surrounded by loving light. I am filled with gratitude, waiting for the light to be revealed in me.
What does light feel like to you? How is God inviting you to the light today? Stay awake, and accept the invitation to be transformed by the Light.
