The Wanderer's Story

I wandered today, I struggled

The word Exile won’t leave me, it won’t let me be

Exile? - but the call is to be in the covenant

with God on life’s journey.

What caused me to be in Exile, away from,

estranged from my loving God?

Is it that my relationship was too shallow,

I needed to go deeper?

Is it fear of the path, the unknown?

I stopped to think…

I found comfort in the words…

All the way He will lead, His is the ever present one.

Should I doubt?

I stopped again to ponder as I wandered.

Is it that I would be alone?

If so, what?

I found comfort in the words

His love never leaves, there is no place

Where His love won’t find me

Yet I continued to wander

I questioned?

There are really no signposts, how would I know the way?

I was comforted and assured by the word…

Where could I go but to the Lord

He is leading… follow

How will I know when to follow?

Will He call my name, will His call be heard?

Just then the call of a squirrel broke the silence

and I was comforted by the words

Abide in me and in will abide in you,

I will hold and tend you, I will carry you in my arms.

I can go deeper, I will go deeper and anchor my sould

in the heaven of His rest and His love.

In the wonder of it all…

His helping hand I leaned upon.

I will walk with God.
