It Is Epiphany. And, You Are Beautiful
At RH Community Worship today we enjoyed journeying with the Magi. The journey home from visiting Jesus was filled with joy. And the journey home from visiting Jesus was filled with pain. How is it that the crowd of oppressors, liars, and haters in the world is unfathomably larger than the handful of Magi who waited in belief for Truth to be born into the world. As we closed our worship, we were all struck by this inspirational prayer by Macrina Wiederkehr in Seven Sacred Pauses: Living Mindfully Through the Hours of the Day. It was a safe place to name our desire to live authentically and see how each one of us is created beautiful and beloved. The TruthI will believe the truth about myselfno matter how beautiful it is:I believe in my powerto transform indifference into love.I believe I have an amazing giftto keep hope alive in the face of despair.I believe I have the remarkable skillof deleting bitterness from my life.I believe in my budding potentialto live with a nonviolent heart.I believe in my passions to speak the trutheven when it isn't popular.I believe I have the strength of willto be peace in a world of violence.I believe in my miraculous capacity for unconditional love.I will believe the truth about myselfno matter how beautiful it is.On this day of Epiphany, may you be led to the beautiful places within you. May you find courage to let these places live out loud. With a grateful heart,Lil
