A Guided Flute and Finger Labyrinth Meditation - Finding Stillness with God

labyrinth.jfif

What is a finger labyrinth? Check out more information how to create your own. Or, you can download a printable version here.

Trained Spiritual Director Cathy Irby invites us to engage with the labyrinth in various ways:

  • Use your finger to explore a paper labyrinth

  • Visualize yourself tracing your finger over a paper labyrinth

  • Walk a labyrinth outside if you wish

  • Visualize yourself walking a labyrinth

  • Walk outside in your neighborhood or park

  • Visualize yourself walking outside

Trained Spiritual Director Cathy Irby uses the below Karl Rauhner poem in a guided flute meditation to accompany our prayers with the labyrinth - regardless of the type of labyrinth we choose. Watch this guided meditation and enjoy flute music my music practitioner Judy Ritchie here.

My God,

I pray better to you by breathing

I pray better to you by walking

And by talking

Lord, take my poor heart

It is so often far from you

Lost in a thousand things

And in the trifles that fill up my everyday life

Lord, only you can collect the thoughts of my heart

And have it concentrate on you

You who are the center of all hearts

Oh Lord of all souls

Only you can bestow the spirit of prayer

Only your grace is able to allow me to find you amidst the multitude of things

Amidst the distractions of everyday life

You are the one necessity

The one person with whom my heart can become still
