Dr. Jana Rentzel
Hi! I'm Jana. I am a PhD spiritual psychologist and a trained spiritual director in private practice. I teach meditation and contemplative prayer classes, I lead support groups, and I create sacred art.
I am in the process of creating Luminas, an online, virtual retreat center that will offer one- to five-day retreats for those seeking a deeper relationship with the Divine Source of all.
Private Practice. In my private practice with individuals, I utilize both spiritual direction and spiritually-based psychology to address the underlying core issues that block our ability to live life to its fullest. Learning how to tap into our own innate, spiritual resources to heal, our lives can be brought into balance so that we may live with more abiding peace, joy, and love.
Helping others navigate their own unique spiritual journey is my deepest passion. Whatever spiritual path you follow, psychological exploration and healing will allow your spirituality to deepen and grow.
Meditation. I began meditating almost 40 years ago. Unaware of the rich tradition of Christian meditation, I began practicing meditation under a Buddhist teacher, who remains a cherished teacher of mine. In the past 20 years, I’ve been delighted to discover Christian meditation and contemplative prayer as it reemerges into the mainstream of Christian practice, thanks to the invaluable work of monks such as Thomas Merton and Thomas Keating.
In each of my weekly online meditation classes, I begin with a 10-15 minutes of teaching, then lead a 30-minute guided meditation, followed by 15-minutes for Q&A and discussion.
Classes. I teach various book studies throughout the year on topics ranging from mystical and integral Christianity to contemplative prayer and meditation.
Support Groups. I lead online monthly support groups for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one, as well as a group for those who are dealing with the heartbreak of estrangement from a family member.
Personal Life. I am married to Chris, with whom I enjoy three beautiful step-daughters, six energetic grand children, and a highly entertaining goldendoodle. I enjoy long bike rides, cooking, reading, and “arting” in my studio.
