Ep 19: When Holy Places Don't Feel Holy
Christy Stone is a licensed professional counselor, spiritual director and self-proclaimed travel junkie. She also lives with chronic pain. Christy just recently walked part of the Camino De Santiago – a pilgrimage in northwestern Spain leading to the shrine of the Apostle James of the Christian tradition.
As Pope Benedict XVI said, "It is a way sown with so many demonstrations of fervour, repentance, hospitality, art and culture which speak to us eloquently of the spiritual roots of the Old Continent. Many still follow its routes as a form of spiritual path or retreat for their soul.”
Christy takes us through her monthlong pilgrimage on the Camino, the ups and downs of her journey and how it parallels to life. She talks about finding God in unexpected places and spaces and time, something she calls Shimmers. She talks of travel as sacred and how she considers it a spiritual practice.
