Hope and Healing

Hope and healing

come in many forms,

with countless paths to choose from.

Yet, what are we looking for?

A quick fix

or something more?

Specialists divide to conquer

body, mind, or soul,

pretending they are separate,

not fragments of a whole.

Usually, a catalyst serves

as a wake-up call

to abstain from comforts

we believe to bring us ease

but, sorry folks,

bring us just disease.

A book or caring ear,

perhaps that’s all

that is required

to inspire

and correct our course.

Pills, injections, surgery -

Often a band-aid only

that misses the real cause.

Counselling,

seeing what we refuse to see,

feeling what we reject to feel,

can bring relief but rarely transformation.

Instead,

toiling with the mind on the mind

can create terrible confusion.

Yet, to see change,

we must change first,

mourn our losses,

release our shame,

connect with others,

be human again.

The painful truth is -

our lifestyle and convictions

create suffering and despair,

believing that a substance,

not Spirit, can repair.

Twelve little steps,

spiritual at their well,

a group of trusted friends

can convert a painful past

to a blessed present.

It starts with lifestyle changes.

Avoid what causes pain,

abstain, and,

finally, surrender

with meditation

and with solemn prayer.

Yoga to the rescue -

And Reiki, too –

stretching, breathing, balancing,

blocked energy releasing.

Concentration, meditation, transformation,

and connection to the All.

To remember who we are,

that body, mind, and soul are one -

that without their harmony

nothing vital is done.

Ah, poor ego and poor soul -

when the ego needs to rule,

without regard for others,

without respect for healing,

without “Thy Will Be Done.”

In constant strife and conflict,

a tyrant at his worst -

until the soul shines forth.

Beware this truth:

A great soul

is hidden

in everyone.

Even he who seems abominable

may serve the greater good,

guard us from huge calamity,

prevent extreme catastrophe.

In this Light,

could Putin’s war,

with unintended consequences,

be our global catalyst?

Complete the cure that COVID missed?

Could all the shortages we see

be our saving grace?

The bitter medicine

that stops

our squandering

Love and Life on Earth. . .
